Unit cools great. It is very noisy. Not the ice dropping but the fan and cooling unit. Would NOT buy again. Controls are good very simple. Makes ice fast. JUST too noisy. It can be heard across the room.

You get what you pay for. New 2026 Whirlpool refrigerator replaced 18 year old Matag which, was a better designed unit. New refrigerator has less shelving and drawers. Water dispenser light switch indicators do not aid the user in nighttime use. One has to feel for a tiny bump under the plastic membrane to activate the switch and then the indicator light appears over the switch. Small but annoying design flaw. Fit and finish is good but the refrigerator was shipped to my house with sight damage to the top front of the freezer/refer partition. Rather than decline delivery I accepted the flaw and repaired it myself. The refer is not as quiet as the old one. Cooling is ok in both compartments and controls are easy to get to. Good lighting in both compartments. This model does give fair value for the price.

The model Has no deli drawer. The freezer takes up much of the space in the refrigerator. The refrigerator has more space on the door shelves. The shelves don™€™t pull out like my prior model basically not satisfied with this model. We also have a chronic recurring problem with the ice dispenser whirlpool Technician has been here twice and it still doesn™€™t dispense ice.

I reviewed my new whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator a few months ago. I own all whirlpool appliances (four all told). This refrigerator replaced the one that faithfully served us for 21 years. It has many shortcomings. The three most noticeable are the high noise level (I had to install sound deadening on two walls to quiet it. Second, the ice cube maker is massive and takes up a fifth of the freezer. I removed it and bought ice cube trays. Third, and the worst, is that on the recommended temperature setting (there are only four settings) much of what™€™s in the refrigerator freezes and spoils. If I set it a notch lower, everything in the freezer melts. I would not buy this model again. I notice that my son™€™s Whirlpool refrigerator has the same problem. There are many features I like, which I reviewed in an earlier post.

This frig was close to what i had. However there is less room because the ice machine is so massive. The frig has no deli drawer. The interior back was dented but not punctured. However i did get it quickly and the price was better than others. Hopi g it last for YEARS.

Refrigerator Shortcomings

I purchased this refrigerator to replace a Kenmore I'd had for 21 years. This model has only two drawers in the refrigerator and one is not ideally placed. The Kenmore had 3. The door on the refrigerator swings too far open and bangs a nearby cabinet. The refrigerator is level. I'm still trying to find a solution, and from other reviews I've read subsequent to my purchase this is an ongoing issue. I was totally surprised when told that my white model was special order and the cost was approximately $300 more compared to stainless steel. I'm still working to remove all the plastic wrapping around some of the doors.

This refrigerator is much noisier than my old refrigerator was. What is particularly annoying is a rapid rattling. I did call Whirlpool customer service last week about this. The rep said that it can take a month or 2 for the motor to settle. I told her that I'd wait two weeks. If it is still rattling next week, I'll call again and request that Whirlpool send a repairman to try to address the problem.

Deep door shelves, great lighting &... ice cubes!

My 18 year old GE side-by-side refrigerator died so I had to get a new refrigerator quickly and all GE side-by-sides were not available for next day delivery. I found this Whirlpool side-by-side that is slightly smaller than my old refrigerator and could be delivered the next day so really didn't have a choice and bought it sight unseen. I'm not crazy about the shiny white cabinet and door handles that easily show fingerprints and dirt. My old refrigerator was textured so hid that mostly. The lighting in this refrigerator is AMAZING compared to my old refrigerator and everything is well lit but it is also not as full of food as my previous refrigerator used to be so time will tell on that. I'm still not sure if I like the glass shelves that are only framed in plastic on the sides and don't go all the way to the back of the refrigerator. I'm waiting for something small to fall through the crack at the back. The documentation (both that came with the refrigerator (very minimal) and what I could find online (formatting is TERRIBLE!)) for the temperature controls is very confusing. I finally figured it out but after I got the refrigerator temperature set to "ideal" I checked the refrigerator temp yesterday and it was 32 degrees Fahrenheit (that is freezing temp) so reset it to be one setting warmer than "ideal" and will see how that works out. The freezer temp is set at also what is recommended and is showing about 3-4 degrees Fahrenheit which is well below freezing. My old refrigerator had a meat drawer that I kept for lunch meat and bread plus two fruit & vegetable drawers. Since this refrigerator does not have a meat drawer I use the bottom fruit/vegetable drawer for meat/bread and that seems to be working out okay so far. Both drawers are smaller than my previous refrigerator because of the expanded size of the shelves on the door. At first I wasn't crazy about the deeper refrigerator door shelves. With my old refrigerator I would grab hold of the door shelf and pull to shut the door. I tried that without thinking on this refrigerator's empty shelves but the shelf came off in my hand and slid across the kitchen floor. But now with the shelves loaded with jars, bottles and cans I don't worry about that as much but I am still careful when I use the shelf to close the door. After using this refrigerator for a few weeks I find that I really like the deep door shelves because they hold a LOT more than my previous refrigerator and what I want is easier to find than when it is stuck at the back of a shelf in the refrigerator. The ice maker is HUGE compared to my old refrigerator and takes up the whole top of the freezer. I do love the ice cubes although I'm not crazy about the separate water & ice dispensers and the ice dispenser takes some force to get it to work with my soft plastic container that I use to get ice cubes. I looked online before the refrigerator arrived to see what the ice cube shape would be and it said "crescent" (same as my old one) but they are about 1 inch squares that taper slightly on the sides. They don't fit my old kombucha bottles that I was using for ice water but was able to buy new water bottles with wide mouths which are so fast and easy to load with these square ice cubes. Where the door shelves in the refrigerator are deep the freezer door shelves are much shallower than my old refrigerator and don't hold much of anything. But the freezer shelves and lighting are much better than my old one so it seems that I can hold a lot more food in this one. Time will tell how this refrigerator holds up but so far I am happy with the change from my old refrigerator!

SHE COULDNT GET WHIRLPOOL ON THE PHONE EITHER. She was finally able to set up a appointment on line.the repair guy was great.cant say the same for whirlpool.

I bought this a few weeks ago and it works fine but I don't like it as much as my previous Whirlpool of similar design. It runs a little noisier, the water dispenser is so tall that you need two hands to fill even at all glass, space in the freezer is not as great, and the drawers in the fridge wobble a bit when opening and closing. Also you only get four discreet temperature settings in the fridge rather than a dial that lets you control the temperature setting more to what you like. I'm getting used to the smooth outside surface but it does show water stains and fingerprints a bit more than the textured surface I had on my last refrigerator. So far though, it works well.

Complete Junk, Zero Support From Whirlpool

Unit didn't work from day-1. Spent 3 months working with Whirlpool "support" to fix the ice maker and freezer. Each service made matters incrementally worse, until the unit finally stopped working all together after a tech spent 7 hours at my house welding in new components (4th service call). Whirlpool "service" refused to replace the unit and kept scheduling service calls 2 weeks out. My impression was that the "service" department was trained to employ stall tactics to essentially wear the customer down until they gave up, which I did. I called Lowe's where I bought the unit, described my saga and they replaced the Whirlpool junk with a new Frigidaire at no cost (upgraded to unit that actually freezes, cools and makes ice...crazy concept). Another point to be aware of. Whirlpool outsources technical service to third-party vendors (unlike GE that has their own technicians), and the customer is responsible for coordinating work with the vendor and reporting back to Whirlpool what the vendor's findings were. When the vendor damaged my wall and chipped my granite countertops, Whirlpool's response was that I had to file a damage report with the third-party vendor. I essentially had a part-time job for three months coordinating third-party repairs, relaying repair reports, requesting parts, and acting as a liaison between myself, Whirlpool, and whatever hack vendor they sent to me house that week. There simply was no accountability from Whirlpool's "customer service" department. My advice is to avoid all Whirlpool appliances at all costs unless: A.) You have a second fridge in the house and just want the Whirlpool around as abstract art. B.) You're looking for an unpaid internship on how not to service customers. C) You have a ton of unused vacation days and you want to burn them waiting around for a Whirlpool contracted vendor that (in my experience) have a no-call, no-show rate of about 20%, but who excel at damaging your home. Don't buy a Whirlpool

Bought 3 weeks ago and it will not cool. I lost all of my food and it has yet to be repaired. I was supposed to receive a call in 48 hours but I had to call them days after. Then I was told they need 8 working days to find a repair center. Still no call from them so I wouldn't recommend a Whirlpool

Bought the same model as the one that served my family without issue for 21 years. It looks, sounds, and works the same. In that respect, I love it. Interior design changes, however are not to my liking. The built-in egg tray in the door is gone. The removable ice cube dispenser is gone. The off button for the ice maker doesn™€™t seem to work. , (I had to jam the ice arm in the up position to stop production), and one of the The separate and 8-point thermostats for freezer and refrigerator are gone. A chance to Vent.

I had a difficult time finding a white refrigerator to fit in my space and wanted to replace the side by side Whirlpool that I was very happy with. I thought I was getting the same quality but finding not. It feels like a cheaper version of my old one. My complaints: I am unhappy with the service and delivery of Lowes. I wasn't told I needed a plumber to unhook my old fridge and install the new one. Second, my floor was scratched and the overhead light bowl broke as the kid were bringing in the new one. Accidents do happen and the boys apologized and cleaned up. Trying to contact a manager at Lowes is like trying to reach Pope Leo. Also I was not smart enough to ask for 0% financing for a short term loan and now I will cancel my new card. My fault! I know all of these are first world problems and I am thankful I have a refrigerator that works. Thanks for listening on a beautiful Sunday morning.

There appears to be a broken piece on the bottom right front piece of fridge. Don't remember there being a little hole in the models we saw in the store. Unfortunately, we didn't notice it until after they had unwrapped it and set it up.
