I am a mad Christmas Baker. I bake pumpkin rolls that are much anticipated gifts. I bake dozens upon dozens as well as lots of other treats for the holiday. With that said, my husband gifted me this mixer. I stopped in the middle of the first batch of rolls to give him kisses after kisses. This has made my long hours of baking so much easier. I cant believe I used a hand mixer all these years. I totally recommend this to anyone who is also a baker. Oh, the noise level is so much less than the old handmixer. My wonderful husband can watch tv in the family room feet from me while I mix.

I received this mixer as an early Christmas gift from my hubby. Love how smooth it runs and the large capacity. Yes it's heavy, but not so that you can't pull it out from the counter. I wouldn't want to store in a lower cupboard. That would be difficult to lift out. It's so pretty on the counter anyway. I have the Ocean Drive color and although I have another appliance in aqua I like the bold look of the mixer.

I got my mixer about 6 years ago. It was mainly used to grind meat, mix salsa and cookie dough. The grinder was used the most. It WAS amazing. Then at around the 3 year mark the mixer "tilt-head" started to bounce. I went onto youtube and found out about the set screw. Behold a fix, or so I thought. I have been using it less and less due to this. Well it finally started to have a burning smell coming from it and the bounce kept coming back after a few uses. The mixer attachment has lost part of the white coating from bouncing and hitting the metal bowl and had to replace that twice now. I always took care of the mixer, I lifted it from the base never the head, and kept it covered with a nice cover I got. Now Im debating even getting another one. My mom got my grandmas hand down mixer that is not kitchenaid and its 30 years old and still works great. Very sad day for my mixer.

Great Mixer but leaks oil

Honest reviews are great when they are honest. This is an honest account of my experience with my KitchenAid Artisan Mixer. For the 1st 4 years it basically served as a kitchen counter decoration. We don't bake but occasionally used it to shred chicken breast, mix mashed potatoes, and mix cookie dough. So, about 4 years, used less than 20 times and really loved the job it did for use and not having to use a handheld mixer.
Today, we removed the mixing bowl to shred some chicken breasts and found a pool of dark oil around the bowl locking plate. Upon closer inspection, we found that the mixing head was leaking the oil from the area where the attachments connect to the mixing head. (See photos).
I came here today to see what if any warranty might cover this and found that it only has a 1 year warranty so I guess I'm on my own. I emailed KitchenAid about the issue and if they reply with a solution to repair or replace the mixer, I will post their response.
I fix issues like this all the time so I am not overly concerned. According to this website, this is a common issue with these mixers...

I guess the main issue I have with this is that I purchased this mixer because I thought it was the best of the best from a company with a good reputation for quality. My assumption was that if I was buying a mixer for $375.00, I'd have it for life without issues like this.
If you are not technically inclined, you may want to consider an extended warranty from the retailer you buy this mixer from.

I had to replace my stand mixer due to it being damaged during a relocation, it was 18 years old and going strong with a lot of use. I love my new one - the new model no longer has a spring in the beater shaft making it so much easier to clean!! This appliance is and continues to be the best mixer on the market and worth every cent! Loyal Kitchenaide

Leaks oil after six years of use!

Bought my Artisan Series Tilt-Head Stand Mixer six years ago. Recently noticed oil dripping from motor down the sides of the stand. After checking You-Tube, apparently this has happened to many other users. I also have to tighten the set screw for the hinge pin on a regular basis. Not worth the money. My old Sunbeam Mixmaster lasted 25 years...never any problems.

This Kitchenaid is a dream come true for me. My mother, even my Grandmother never had one. It makes cooking and baking so much easier. I am thankful for it. My first KitchenAid mixer was a gift for my bridal shower 45 yrs ago lasted 35 yrs. we bought my mother in law a KitchenAid mixer that lasted about 25 yrs. I inherited hers and have been using it until I purchased a new one this month. Why ruin a good thing. It's great that KitchenAid has added new attachments. Great product!

I must have purchased 3 different models and colors not realizing the differences between all. I choose this toffee delight Artisan. It's a gorgeous color. Compliments my kitchen. The Artisan is lighter and the tilt head makes it fit underneath the cabinets.

This is still new and I have only used it a few times. Bought it to replace my old KitchenAid mixer which is older than dirt. It still works, though. I decided I wanted a colored new one and gave the old one to my daughter as it's still good. Hope I get as many good years out of this one!
